Q

Action of Flexor digitorum longus ?

A

1) Flexion of the metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal joints of the lateral 4 toes (it flexes the distal phalanges of the toes when the foot is off the ground).

2) When the foot is on the ground and under load, it acts with the lumbricals and interossei to maintain the pads of the toes in firm contact with the ground.

3) Assists in plantar flexion of the foot.

4) Supports longitudinal arch of foot (mainly the medial).
