What is Paget’s Disease?
A
Metabolic condition characterized by heightened osteoclastic activity
- Leads to Excessive bone formation that lacks true structural integrity, bone appears to be large however lacks strength.
(The osteoblasts overreact and make bone that is abnormally large, deformed, and fits together haphazardly.)

A
Genetic component/etiology.

Signs and Symptoms?
A
Musculoskeletal pain
Bone Deformities:
- kyphosis, coxa varus,
- bowing of long bones,
- vertebral compression

Treatment
A
Reliant on pharmacological use of bisphosphonates inhibit bone resorption.
