Q

4 types or plant tissue

A
  1. Meristematic tissue: unspecialized tissue that is
responsible for growing new parts of the plant
  2. Epidermal tissue: forms the protective covering; allows exchange of materials and gases
  3. Vascular tissue: transports substances throughout the plant
  4. Ground tissue: provides strength and support in the
stem, stores food and water in the roots, location of
    photosynthesis in leaves

Q

Stomata

A

structures that open and close to allow CO2, water vapour, and oxygen to move in/out of the leaf

made by guard cell

Q

phloem

A

two-way transportation of water
and nutrients (such as glucose) from the photosynthetic parts of the plant to all cells

Q

Turgor pressure

A

pressure exertedwhen the cell membrane pushes against
the cell wall.
● Low water → central vacuole shrinks →decreased turgor pressure → plant wilts
● The cell wall needs to be strong so that cells don’t burst with too much turgor pressure
