Basic ideas of postmodernism and Crime?
That classical social thinking present that history has shape and is a progressive timeline but postmodernists reject this and claim that these ideas are not applicable in modern day society and there are no meta narratives in the modern day.
What does Henry and Milanovic say?
Argued that crime should be describes as something that causes harm - two types of harm:
- harms of reduction > immediate loss or harm is caused e.g. theft
- harms of repression > a crime that restricts future human development e.g. harms threatening human dignity, such as sexual harassment and racial abuse.
What Lyotard say?
Argues scientific research is no longer done for good and to benefit society as a whole but to empower those with the money to fund it.
He offers examples; there is no cure for cancer and the existence of nuclear weapons.
