Protein synthesis SMH Flashcards
(6 cards)
What bases are involved with RNA?
A U C G
What is the purpose of mRNA?
-linear strand shape
To take DNA Info from the nucleus to the Ribosomes
Explain the process of transcription (making mRNA)
(4)
-RNA polymerase Breaks H Bonds between bases )exposing bases
-RNA polymerase as complimentary RNA bases to ONE strand
-RNA polymerase joins the bases together (reforming h bonds)
-mRNA strand detaches
Explain the process of translation
1) Ribosome binds to mRNA
2) Anticodon w amino acids binds to complimentary codon)this repeats
3)The ribosome joins the amino acids together via condensation reaction forming peptide bonds
4)This forms a polypeptide chain and everything breaks off from each other
What is tRNA?
-Clover shape
Has amino acid binding site on the top
Has anticodon base pairs at the bottom
Has Hydrogen bonds
What tf do rRNA do?
rRNA is responsible for catalysing the peptide bonds that form during translation
