Convenience sampling (or opportunity) -
asking anyone who happens to be there is they would like to participate (quantitative)
Self selected (volunteer)
recruiting people who volunteer, often for payment. Usually from university or public locations (quantitative )
snowball sampling
when people are asked to refer others who would be willing to participate in the study. (qualitative)
Participants are asked if they know participants
Can help bring trust
Can’t avoid bias
Random sampling -
every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected (quantitative)
Purposive sampling
choosing specific participants with the correct characteristics (qualitative)

Stratified sampling - dividing the population into subgroups, and then random sampling(quantitative)
Quota - after dividing into groups, participants are not selected randomly they are selected until the correct number is met
