Qantitative data stuff Flashcards
Repeated measures:
each participant receives all conditions of the design
They can be at the same time
Participant variation does not play a role here
order effects may have a role between event however counterbalancing conditions in groups can minimise this
Demand characteristics such as; expectancy effect, social desirability bias or screw you effect
Independent sample:
Random allocation to one condition
Order effects controlled
Hypothesis can’t really be guessed if they don’t experience both conditions
Same words or materials can be used across groups
Participant variation may be an influencing factor
Matched pairs:
Not random allocation, pre test is used and the people are grouped on this
This emphasises a wide variety in each condition
Random allocation may poorly group people
