RCA lecture 1 nerve Flashcards
(22 cards)
whats the branches of the opthalmic nerve and where does it exit the cranial vault
opthalmic is trigeminal branch one remember,
this is a wholly sensory branch. its branches are the frontal nerve, lacrimal nerve, nasociliary. all going into the orbit via the superior orbital fissure
tell me about the path and the function of the lacrimal gland
passess laterally to the lacrimal gland, supplies the lateral skin and conjunctiva of upper eyelid
what are the branches of the frontal nerve , and whats the frontal nerve a branch from itself
the frontal nerve comes from the opthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve. its branches are the supraorbital and supratrochlear nerve
what does the frontal nerve supply
the upper eyelid, forehead and scalp
whats the branch of the nasociliary nerve anmd whats it a branch of itself
gives rise to the external nasal nerve, it branches off of the opthalmic nerve from the trigeminal
whats the nasociliary nerve supply
nasociliary does the eye
the external nasal nerve does the skin of the dorsum of the nose
what are the branches of the maxillary nerve
zygomatic nerve and the posterior superior alveolar nerve
whats the path of the maxillary nerve
it becomes the infraorbital nerve after entering the orbit via the inferior orbital fissure, runs along floor of orbit then to the face via the infraorbital foramen
whats the nerve supply of the infraorbital nerve
sensation to lower eyelid, cheek and upper lip
tell me the path of the zygomatic nerve
comes from the maxillary nerve after going through the inferior orbital fissure. this one runs on the lateral wall of the orbit. emerges on the face through a foramen in the zygomatic bone
what is the supply of the zygomatic nerve
the skin over the zygomatic arch
what does the mandibular nerve divide into
the medial pterygoid nerve and then the anterior and posterior branches
what are the anterior branches of the mandibular nerve
all motor except the buccal nerve,
the others are the lateral pterygoid, temporalis and masseter
what are the posterior branches of the mandibular nerve
all sensory except the mylohyoid nerve
the others are the auriculotemporal, lingual and the inferior alveolar
where does the auriculotemporal nerve supply
sensory supply to the skin of the temporal region
whats the buccal nerve supply
the cheek
whats the mental nerve supply
chin and lower lip
whats the mental nerve a branch of
terminal branch of inferior alveolar nerve, emerging from the mental foramen
whats the cervical plexus roots
C1-C4
whats the cervical sensory supply
anterior and lateral neck, lateral head
whats the greater auricular nerve
a branch of the cervical plexus, skin of auricle and angle of mandible
whats the nerve roots of the greater auricualr nerve
C2-C3
