Vir, hall and foye

A

-those living in the highlands feel underrepresented in the media and bias of TV programs excluding smaller locations and stated that “the Scottish person is always drunk and an abusive drunk at that”
Eg. Willy the caretaker from the Simpsons. This is due to the fact that he is confrontational, a violent drunk, drinks excessive alcohol and embodies a typical angry
“Scotsman”

Graham

A
  • media can sometimes force other nationals into tv programmes leading to tokenism (symbolic effort being inclusive to minority groups in order to give the appearance of racial equality)
Eg. Gavin and Stacey. Because it is “all about portraying Wales as thick. This can be seen through the portrayal of the character Nessa, as she is rude, interruptive, very controversial, uses her first name to her child and is sexually open and uneducated
