- working class individuals are often portrayed in
programmes as beneficiaries of the middle class help and advice - presented as cultured and helpful and resourceful
compared to the working class who are seen as receiving their help and unable to cope without it
Eg. Supernanny. In this programme, a middle-class woman dressed in a suit and carrying a briefcase comes into “fix“ working class families’ problems to do with their children. By being astonished by the child’s behaviour, “Supernanny“ gives the impression that this would never happen in a middle-class family setting.
