Resistors Flashcards
(10 cards)
What is resistance in an electrical circuit?
Resistance is the opposition to the flow of electric current, measured in ohms (Ω).
What is the function of a resistor in an electronic circuit?
To limit or control the flow of current.
What does the colour code on a resistor represent?
The resistor’s value and tolerance.
What are the tolerance levels commonly found on resistors?
5% (gold band) and 10% (silver band).
What does the first colour band on a resistor indicate?
The first digit of the resistance value.
What does the second colour band on a resistor indicate?
The second digit of the resistance value.
What does the third colour band on a resistor indicate?
The multiplier (power of ten).
What does the fourth colour band on a resistor indicate?
The tolerance level.
Calculate the total resistance of two resistors in series: 100 Ω and 220 Ω.
Rt = 100 + 220 = 320 Ω.
How do you calculate the total resistance of resistors in series?
Add all resistance values: Rt = R1 + R2 + … + Rn.
