Nasal Chambers?
Warms and moistens the air, filters and traps pathogens which stops them from entering the lungs, lined with cilia.
Pharynx?
Funnels air down to the larynx, made-up of smooth muscle.
Larynx?
Produces sounds and moves the air from the pharynx to the trachea.
Trachea?
Keeps airways open and takes air into the lungs. Inhales O2 and exhales CO2, made-up of smooth muscle and c-shaped cartilage.
Bronchus / Bronchi?
Spreads and directs air evenly between left and right lungs.
Bronchioles?
Spreads and directs air between both sides of the lungs.
Avioli?
Site of gas exchange, O2 enters the bloodstream while CO2 enters into the lungs to be exhaled. Surrounded by capillaries and contains a large surface area.
Diaphragm?
Contracts and expands to allow air in and out of the lungs.
