Describe the function of the large number of mitochondria found in the sperm cell.
A
the mitochondria is arranged in a spiral around the top of the tail to release lots of energy to power the tail of the sperm.

What is the function of the acrosome found in the tip of the head of sperm?
A
it contains enzymes that break down the substances in the egg cell’s jelly coat. This allows the sperm to burrow inside.
