What defines Status Epilepticus (SE) in this guideline?

What is Generalised Convulsive Status Epilepticus (GCSE)?
Characterised by tonic-clonic movements of extremities with altered conscious state.
What is Subtle SE and how does it present?
It is coma with ongoing seizure activity, with or without subtle movements (e.g. twitches, eye deviation), usually after prolonged GCSE.
How is subtle SE typically identified?
When a patient initially had tonic-clonic seizures and is now in coma with no improvement in conscious state.
Can midazolam be given for seizures other than GCSE?
Only with AV Clinician consultation.
What other medications might a patient have been prescribed for seizures?
Buccal/intranasal midazolam or rectal diazepam.
What should be done if a single seizure has terminated on its own?
Continue with initial management and transport.
What is the guidance for patients with seizure history left in care of a third party?
Advise on recurrence signs, what to do if it returns, and the importance of contacting the primary care provider.
