A

and the frog came, it was one frog, and they (the mitzrim) were hitting the frog
and it spewed out heaps and heaps - this is a MIdrash

One can say for Pshat the swarm of frogs, it calls in the singular
and so too “and the louse (signular of lice) was”
the swarm as in old french פדולייר”א
and so too “and the frog went up in old French גרינולייר”א”

Q

Rashi Answer

A

Rashi brings two answers to this question. 1- a
Derash: it was one frog that came from the water and every time the Mitzrim hit the frog, the one frog spit out more and more frogs.
2- Peshat: The way you say the multiple of frog is “frog” so really it
was that a lot of frogs came from the waters but the pasok says it
in the singular because that is how you say it.
