A

Acute - less than 12 weeks
Chronic - more than 12 weeks

What are the causes of sinusitis?

A
  • Infection, usually after VURTI
  • Allergies such as hayfever
  • Obstruction of draining e.g due to foreign body, trauma
  • Smoking

  • Nasal congestion
  • Nasal discharge
  • Facial pain or headache
  • Facial pressure

How is rhino sinusitis managed?

A
  • Admission if systemic infection
  • Self resolving within 2-3 weeks
  • High dose nasal spray for 14 days if symptoms persisted longer than 10 days e.g Mometasone
  • Delayed Abx prescription if worsening e.g Pen V
