What are the 4 learning theories
A
Operant conditioning, Thorndike’s laws, cognitive theory of learning, social learning theory (Bandura)

What is operant conditioning as a learning theory
A
Associanist view where correct responses are reinforced by rewards

What is Thorndike’s laws as a learning theory
A
Based on strengthening S-R bond, includes 3 laws:
- Law of exercise: Rehearsing actions strengthens reinforcement
- Law of effect: Pleasant reaction to the action strengthens S-R bond and vice versa
- Law of readiness: Must be mentally and physically capable of performing skill efficiently

What is the cognitive learning theory
A
Intervening variables and insight learning. States that:
- Learning is best achieved by practicing and thinking about the whole skill
- Thought processes are dependant on perception
- Learner will use current and previous knowledge/experience to plan a solution

What is social learning theory
A
Copying behaviour of others:
- Behaviour will be copied if there is a high status role model
- Role models are more likely to be copied if they’re the same gender
- Form of visual guidance
- Demonstration is presented for the learner to copy
- Involves attention, retention, reproduction and motivation (ARRM)
