A

RCT - competition can be used to drive prejudice e.g the media and football hooliganism - superordinate goals can be used to reduce prejudice e.g charity fund raising OTOH - based on a small androcentric sample so may not applt in other situations so wont be socially controlling
HOWEVER might be more socially controlling because it might work even more with pre existing prejudices
Identity theory - create divisions and stereotypes to create prejudice (the media and government)

Agency theory/burger/milgram - can increase/decrease authority on people to change obedience e.g uniforms and hierarchies
Personality- we could use this to fill ranks in army with authoritarian people to increase obedience
SIT - can create situations with SIN to increase/decrease authority on people to change obedience e.g uniforms and hierarchies

-WMM - dementia treatments e.g not overloading the CE with many tasks and how family and NHS treat people with dementia

Tulving -cues being used to help people recall episodic memories
Reconstructive - we could change people’s memories of events usiing stereotypes to restructure schemas
Police could use schemas to get false confessions out of people

Hormones - can alter hormones to increase and decrease aggression e.g chemical castration, medication to raise serotonin levels
Evolution/genetics - eugenics to later genetic traits (genetic screening of down’s syndrome)
- twin and adoption studies - if we figure out what is nature and nurture we are more likely to alter nurture factors
- brain activity - whether people are responsible for own behaviour e.g murderes/sentencing
- can change NT levels by using certain medications e.g buprenorphine,methadone

  • Found abnormal brain processes in murderes which could be used to screen the population
  • identifying potential criminals through brain scanning could lead to investigations being put in place which could help prevent serious crimes like murder OTOH raine lacks generelisabilty so any form of screening may not be useful for rest of population
