A
Prolonged CA, hyperkalemia, tricyclic antidepressant/barbiturates OD & refractory metabolic acidosis

Side Effects?
A
Extracellular alkalosis, cardiac arrhythmias and decrease cerebral & cardiac functioning

Action?
A
Raises pH of blood by buffering excess hydrogen ions. Provides vascular bicarbonate to assist with buffer system in reducing the effects of metabolic acidosis & in treatments of some OD’s

ADULT/PEDI?
A
1 mEq IV/IO, repeat @ half dose every 10 min
