Q

What is DTT (Discrete-Trial Teaching)?

A

It is a teaching method that breaks down skills into small components and teaches them 1 by 1. You’re giving an SD which is followed by the behavior and then comes your consequence (which is either reinforcing or providing corrective feedback!), restart.

Q

SD

A

Stands for Discriminative Stimulus.

An SD is a cue or signal that indicates a specific behavior will be reinforced (rewarded). It essentially tells the learner what action to take in order to receive a desired consequence.

Q

How do you do DTT?

A

The goal is identifying body parts. 1st you deliver your SD, “touch your ears”, client touches nose, consequence is “no that’s not it you need to touch your ears.” And you might prompt, grab your own ear. Then redeliver Sd, touch your ears. Client touches ears so you deliver a consequence which is reinforcer, “nice job touching your ears!!” do it again and repeat. That is DTT.
