Working model of memory Flashcards
(6 cards)
What is WMM principles
working memory model and refers to stm
It refers to THE the different components of STM
- STM doesnt just STORE but processes information
parts of the WMM
- Phonological loop
Phonological store - Articulatory control process
- Visuospatial sketchpad
- Episodic buffer
- Central Executive
Features of the phonological loop
Articulatory control process
- inner voice (rehearses verbal sound)
Phonological loop ( inner ear) receives and stores sounds
The visuospatial sketchpad
inner eye
responsible for visual information and spatial information - location
What is the central executive
word executive from business world
– it controls the amount of resources and attention distributed to the PL and VSS ( which are slave systems)
Role of the episodic buffer
acts as a back up store and integrates information from all other components of the WMM
and long term memory
