Koch’s postulate

A

for organism to be the cause of disease it must…

  • found in all cases of disease
  • prepped and maintained in pure culture
  • can produce original infection even after several generations of culture
  • retrievable from inoculated animal, culture again

there’s always a way to prove that a germ is the cause of the disease
find it in common, grow it, infect another group, re-culture
