What is the difference between qualitative and quantitative?
Qualitative relates to the quality of something or how it looks, quantitative relates to the quantity or amount of something.
What is a gram (general def)? What is a kilogram (related to a gram)?
A gram is the base unit of measurement for mass. A kilogram (kilo) represents 1000th of a gram, 1g=.001kg
Label the unit of measurement for each item: Length, Mass, Volume, and Time.
L: meter
M: gram
V: liter
T: seconds
What makes Mass different from Volume?
Mass represents the amount of atoms that are WITHIN an object, but Volume represents how much space an object takes up within something else (like a body of water).
If you are measuring with a ruler that has markings up to .1cm, how many decimal places should you show? What if it only went up to 10cm?
You would have to show 2 decimal places for your measurement. If it went up to 10cm, you would only have to show 1 whole digit as a measurement.
What is the mean? How do you calculate it.
The mean is the average number out of a statistic. It is found by adding up all numbers, then dividing by the amount of numbers you have.
What is the median? How do you find it
The median is essentially the middle number listed, if all numbers were laid out from least to greatest. If you have an even amount of numbers, add the two middle most and divide by 2.
What is the range and how do you calculate it.
Range represents the difference between the Heighest value in a statistic, to the :owest. Subtract Lowest number from Heighest.
What is the fastest way to calculate standard deviation.
Root the variance of a statistic.
What do thermometers measure?
Temperature of an item AND the degree of hot or cold.
Convert .3kg to mg.
3*10^5mg
Should you label conversions in scientific notation?
Yes
What is the scienetific notation of a nano
10^-9
