4.1 Flashcards
(10 cards)
What is a matching pair for the line: ATGTACGTA
TACATGCAT
What bonds hold the nucleotides in DNA together?
Covalent bonds.
What did Griifth discover was responsible for genetic material?
DNA
How did Griffiths experiment work?
By testing how a diseased affected a mouse based of a transformation. For instance, he had a case where there was a rough strain, smooth strain, heat killed smooth strain, hk s strain plus r strain. This was to see how transformations affected virus, and how traits were passed on.
How did Hershey-Chase experiment work?
They tested if protein or Nucleic Acid was responsible for genetic material by making either radioactive and testing how it passed on when the virus reproduced.
List the 3 parts of a DNA.
Phosphate, sugar, nitrogenous base.
What are the pairs in DNA?
A:T C:G
What bond breaks in DNA to produce RNA?
Hydrogen bonds
Anti parallel means that one side of DNA runs how compared to the other?
One side is 3 up to 5, other side is 3 down to 5.
What shape is DNA?
Double helix
