Q

Why is a transthoracic puncture risky? (Explain complicated, important)

A

Pneumothorax is a risk, because the thoracic cavity is a negative pressure space. So there’s a tendency from air coming from the lung entering the space between the visceral and parietal layers, causing a pneumothorax.
