Q

This cranial nerve starts with knob shaped bipolar receptor cell dendrites located on the inferior cribiform surface and the superior nasal conchae, the axons extend up through the olfactory formaen in the cribiform plate of the ethmoid bone and they all join to be the olfactory nreves. The olfactory nerves synapse with other olfactory neurons in the olfactory bulb and then these new neuron axons carry the information to the primary olfactory area of the temporal lobe of the brain

Q

This sensory cranial nerve begins with sensory information being sent from rods and cone cells to bipolar cells and then to ganglion cells in the retina. The ganglion axons all form the optic nerve and pass through the optic foramen and then the medial axons cross at the optic chiasm and the new formed bundles of axons carry on as the optic tracts. Most of the axons synapse int he lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus with neurons whose axons extend tot he primary visual area of the occipital lobe of the brain. Some axons pass through the lateral geniculate nuceli of the thalamus and go to the superior colliculi of the midbrain and to motor nuclei of the brain stem and synapse there with motor neurons that control intrinsic and extrinsic eye muscle movements

A

Optic (II) Nerve
