Q

Subjunctive and Optative Moods

A

The speaker views the action as non-factual, i.e., non-indicative. Like the infinitive, the subjunctive and optative do not indicate factual time, but only aspect: the present tense shows progressive/repeated aspect; the aorist tense, simple aspect; and the perfect tense, completed aspect.
