Representativeness Heuristic
Making a decision based upon how much something represents, or matches up with your characteristics from your schema.
Availability Heuristic
When we make decisions on how available information is.
Functional Fixedness
A cognitive bias that limits a person to use an object only in the way it is traditionally used.
Mental Set
A tendency to only see solutions that have worked in the past.
Anchoring Effect
A cognitive bias that describes the common human tendency to rely too heavily on the first piece of information offered.
Confirmation Bias
While we make a decision, we actively look for information that confirms our ideas.
Overconfidence
A tendency to overestimate the accuracy of our beliefs & judgement.
Belief Perserverance
A tendency to cling to our beliefs in the face of contrary evidence.
Belief Bias
The tendency of one’s pre-existing beliefs to distort logical reasoning by making invalid conclusions.
