Q

where does it happen?

A
  • tales places on the ribosomes

- mRNA is transcribed in the nucleus, then enters the cytoplasm and attaches to a ribosome

Q

the role of tRNA

A
  • the mRNA molecule moves through the ribosome and the tRNA molecule ‘translates” the codon and brings the proper amino acid
  • the part that reads the codons are called anticodons
  • the amino acid is added to the growing polypeptide chain

Q

start and stop codons

A
  • tells the tRNA molecule where to start and stop translating
  • AUG - start codon
  • UAA, UAG, UGA - stop codons
  • release the finished chains into the cell to do its job

Q

anticodon

A
  • group of three bases on a tRNA molecule that are complementary to an mRNA codon
  • anticodon tells the tRNA molecule where to attach itself
