Battle of Yorktown (1781)
Last major battle of American Revolution that took place in Virginia. The French Navy cut off the British escaping by water. American and French troops cut off an escape by land.
Treaty of Paris (1783)
This treaty ended the Revolutionary War. Britain recognized the independence of the American colonies and granted the colonies the territory from the southern border of Spanish Florida to the northern border of British Canada and from the Atlantic Coast to the Mississippi River.
