Q

Why is carbon a versatile block for organic molecules?

A

All of life is built of carbon; it contains four stable covalent bonds. It can form double and triple bonds, storing C-H bonds and forming chains with other carbons with abundance. It gives organic molecules distinctive properties and makes hydrocarbons hydrophilic; therefore increasing solubility.
