Adjectival suffixes

A

-Il - added to a noun, denotes a concrete property which is related to existence, presence, or being available; an abstract property, for nouns of place, the notion of ‘originating from’; expressions of age

-lIk quantity based on a noun modified by a cardinal number; noun into an adjective which expresses the idea of ‘indended for’; nouns denoting a period; nouns denoting landscape an area entirely consisting of

-sAl turns nouns into adjectives chemical, documentary

-î old arabic suffix for a limited number of words

-(I)msI After a noun this suffix expresses similarity and corresponds to English endings such as –ish, –y, and –like
This suffix denotes a semblance as well when added to adjectives

-(y)IcI - with a verb stem it forms an adjective

Participles - verb forms

-I - Combined with a passive verb stem this suffix yields an adjective with the same meaning as the past participle forms in –mIş.

-CA - has a softening effect on the meanings of adjectives—their modified
meaning can in English be expressed by ‘rather’. It is CAK if the word ends in a K, and the K is removed

-CIk - intensifies the meaning of a small number of adjectives.

-(I)mtrak denotes a semblance in adjectives of colour and taste

What are the verb to adjective suffixes

A

Ik. Transitive verb stems to which this suffix has been attached are derivations

Intransitive verb stems expanded by the suffix –Ik also denote a state
