What is an allergy?
The body confuses a harmless substance with a pathogen

What happens to the epithelial tissue during asthma?
Damaged and inflammted
Excess mucus in goblet cells

Why is a problem when the epithelial cells swell?
Difficult to breath and blocked airway
How do antihistamines treat asthma?
To counteract the release of histamine from basophils I the inflammatory repsonse
How does a steroid inhaler treat asthma?
Prevent inflammation
How does bronchodilator treat asthma?
relaxing the muscles surrounding the airways in the lungs, allowing them to widen and making it easier to breathe
Why is anaphylaxis so dangerous?
Causes a lot of vasoconstriction and movement of fluid into the tissues
What does a lot of vasoconstriction and movement of fluid into the tissue cause?
causes a massive drop in blood pressure
Why is it dangerous that a lot of histamines are released at once during anaphylaxis?
Causes vasoconstriction and a drop in blood pressure
How are adrenaline injections used to treat anaphylaxis?
Caused vasoconstriction and increase of heart rate

Bind to histamines, reducing their effect on the body
How to inhalation and injection of steroids treat anaphylaxis?
Reduces inflammation
What is dermatitis?
Direct irritation by external agent or allergic reaction
What are symptoms of dermatitis?
Red, swollen and sore skin
How is dermatitis treated?
Steroid creams
