Anatomy L.3 Flashcards
(19 cards)
What do the testis cord near the hilum of the testis form?
Rete testis, and get connected to the mesonephric tubules, which form the efferent ductules
What seperates the testis from the rest of the wall?
Tunica albuginae
The testis cords get canalized during the development of the testis, what occurs as a result of that?
Spermatogenesis occurs at puberty and not before that
What does the cranial most part of the mesonephric duct form in males?
It degenerates and forms the appendix of the epididymis
What does the mullerian duct form when it degenerates in males?
The appendix of the testis
What divides the cloaca into anterior and posterior parts?
The urorectal septum
What is the anterior part of the cloaca?
The primitive urogenital sinus
What is the posterior part of the cloaca?
The primitive anal canal
What are the three parts of the primitive urogenital sinus and what do they form?
1) superior vesical part —> forms urinary bladder
2) Middle pelvic part —> forms prostate and prostatic urethra
3) Inferior phallic part —> forms penile urethra
What does the middle pelvic part of the urogenital sinus form?
Prostate and prostatic urethra
What part of urogenital sinus forms the penile urethra?
Inferior phallic part
What does the genital tubercle form in males?
The phallus and then the penis
During development of the male external genitalia, what forms the penis?
The genital tubercle
What does the endodermal urethral plate convert into?
Penile urethra
The endoderm lined urethral groove extends into the phallus, except where?
Glans penis
What helps develop the part of the urethra in the glans penis?
Canalization of ectoderm during the 4rth month
When the genital swellings fuse during development of male external genitalia, what do they form?
The scrotum
What part of the urethra develops from ectoderm?
Glans penis
Endoderm —> urethral groove
Ectoderm —> glans penis
What occurs due to failure of urethral folds to fuse with each other in males?
Hypospadias
