What is the standard management of a solid testicular mass?
Radical orchiectomy
Why is the cytoplasm of the cells in seminoma clear?
Because of the glycogen in them
You see on microscopy sheets of uniform cells. Divided into poorly demarcated lobules by fibrous septa with lymphocytes, plasma cells, and granulomatous rxn ( see Q1 nota ). There are large polyhedral cells with clear cytoplasm, large central nuclei. Minimal mitotic figures. The tumor is seminoma. What would you find positive when you do an immunohistochemistry?
Stain positive for KIT, OCT4, PLAP. 15% contain syncytiotrophoblast high hCG but not as high as choriocarcinoma
What serological test would you use to predict preeclampsia and when would you?
PIGF/sFlt-1 ratio in the first trimester
Dec. PIGF and inc. sFlt-1
What testicular tumor shows a central vessel surrounded by tumor cells resembling a primitive glomeruli?
This is describing Schiller-Duval bodies seen in yolk sac tumors
