What is hydroxyzine
Sedating antihistamine → should not be used long-term

Avoid MOAI and IV methylene blue → Serotonin syndrome
Why is buspar a good drug
No potential for abuse, tolerance, or physical dependence
MOA of BZD
Enhance GABA (inhibitory neurotransmitter) → CNS depression
Indication for BZD
Acute anxiety (short-term relief), should be limited to 1-2 wks
Sleep
Seizures
Why are BZDs on the BEER list
Increased sedation, fall, confusion, CNS depressants
Paradoxical effect (hyperactivity, aggregation, agitation)
