What is the Blood Injection Injury Invetory (BIIPI)?
A
An 18-item self-report measure used to assess the severity of fear related to blood, injections and injuries.

How is the BIIPI set up?
A
- The patient is presented with a situation.
- They have to evaluate the different reactions they may experience in that situation (cognitive, physiological, behavioural reactions) on a 0-3 rating scale.

A
- Items/situations rated on a 0-3 rating scale.
- 0=Never
- 1=Sometimes
- 2=Almost always
- 3=Always

A
- Situation: When I see blood on my arm or finger after pricking myself with a needle.
- Examples response: ‘I think I might faint’ 0-3 rating scale.

A
Strengths= Holistic and comprehensive. Clinical utility. Holistic: Measures both anxiety and avoidance, offering a comprehensive picture of the phobia.
Weakness= Reductionist: Focuses on symptom severity but doesn’t delve into root causes or co-occurring issues
