Ppt had severe anxiety, minimal depressive symptoms, but overall good health and satisfaction in most areas.
However, he showed intense fear and anxiety surronding blood and injection.

  • Ppts sucessfully completed every stage of the fear hierarchy (without his SUDs score becoming too high)
  • SUDS score decreased from 40/100 to 0/100.

What were the results from the 4, 10 and 12 month follow ups?

A
  • The ppts reported that he had attended several medical appointments.
  • The self-report measures reflected that his anxiety levels dropped significantly and that he no longer showed fear toward medical related stimuli (no longer qualified for BIIP).
  • Reported he ‘never felt better’

A

CBT (psychological therapy) and applied muscle tension (behavioural therapies) can be used as successful treatments of BII phobia.
