Ch9/10 Flashcards
(11 cards)
What molecule is oxidized during glycolysis?
Glucose
What are the products of glycolysis?
2 net ATP, 2 pyruvates, & 2 NADHs
What happens to pyruvate when it crosses the mitochondria double membrane?
Each pyruvate is changed to Acetyl Co A & a NADH is formed
What molecule enter the Kreb’s cycle?
Acetyl Co A
What are the products of the Kreb’s Cycle?
2ATP, 6NADH & 2FADH2 after two cycles, 1 cycle for each 2 pyruvates
What molecules enter the electron transport chain?
10 NADH & 2 FADH2
What is the last electron acceptor in the electron transport chain?
1/2 Oxygen to form H2O
What is the function of ATP Synthase in Chemiosmosis?
to attach Phosphate to ADP to form ATP using energy from the electron transport chain
Name the 2 processes that make up Oxidative phosphorylation
Electron Transport & Chemiosmosis
Photosystem II occurs before photosystem I.
Name the products of each photosystem
Photosystem II makes ATP
Photosystem I make NADPH
In terms of stomata opening, compare C3, C4 and CAM plants
C3 plants must have stomata open for photosynthesis.
C4 plants store carbon dioxide as a C4 compound, close their stomata on very hot days & still continue photosynthesis.
CAM plants open their stomata at night & store Carbon Dioxide as CAM to continue photosynthesis during the day
