What is the root?
Foundation of the word
What is the suffix?
Ending piece of the word
What is the combining vowel?
Usually ‘O’.
Links the root to the suffix or the root to another root
What is the prefix?
Small part attached to beginning of the term
How do you read a term?
Starting from the suffix, then going back to beginning of the term.
Drop combining vowel before a suffix beginning with a vowel, but keep it between two roots even if the second root starts with a vowel
