Compound Microscope
A microscope with more than one lens
Eyepiece Lens
A lens at the viewing end of a microscope
Body Tube
A tube that connects the eyepiece to the objective lens
Course Adjustment
The larger knob used first to bring the image into focus
Fine Adjustment
The smaller knob used to to bring the image into complete focus
Arm
The part that supports the upper part of the microscope
Nose Piece
A part that holds two or more objective lenses and can be rotated to change power
Low Power Objective
The lens nearest the object being viewed with the least power
High Power Objective
The lens nearest the object being viewed with the greatest power
Stage
The small platform where the slide is mounted for examination
Stage Clip
A clip that holds the slide in place on the stage
Diaphragm
Located under the stage, adjusts the amount of light passing into the slide
Lamp
The source that projects light through the diaphragm
Base
The bottom of the microscope, used for support
