too many dopamine receptors. help to explain paranoia and hallucinations its like taking amphetamine overdoes all the time
Causes of schizophrenia- Enlarged ventricles
enlarged ventricles –> negative symptoms
-parts of brain are smaller
-link between different brain parts get weaker
Causes of schizophrenia- Prenatal viruses
more likely to get schizophrenia if-
-during and after flu infection
-few months after flu season
-after mothers had the flu during second trimester
diathesis stress model
you get a disorder when a weakness you have (diathesis) is triggered by stress.
