What is entropion

A
  1. Inward turning of lower eyelid
  2. Lid may be turned in all the time or may turn inwards when patient blinks forcibly
    *common in elderly, rarely congenital

What causes entropion

A
  1. Degeneration of the lid fascia
  2. Due to extensive scarring of the conjunctive and tarsal plates

What are the signs of entropion

A
  1. Irritation
  2. Discomfort
  3. FB sensation
  4. Redness f sclera
  5. Pain
  6. Trichiasis (eyelashes grow towards eye)

What is the treatment of entropion

A
  1. Artificial tears
  2. Surgery if lashes are rubbing on cornea
  3. Botox injection is temporary
