A
  • increase or decrease heat production(shivering)
  • move to an area where heat loss is decreased or increased
  • wear appropriate clothing for the environment
  • perform rapid assessment
  • eval core temp. by placing the back of your hand on the abdomen
  • eval mental status quickly using AVPU scale
  • assessment should include changes that occur

S/S include:
-Hot, dry flushed skin, bc the sweating system has failed
-Body temp. quickly rises
-changes in behavior
-seizure may occur
