Enzymes In Breakdown And Synthesis Flashcards

1
Q

What is the point of enzymes digesting food?

A

They break them down into smaller components that are used by cells and the bloodstream
Made smaller to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Plants store energy in starch . When plants need energy the enzymes break down thus starch . These can be used to respire to transfer energy to be used by the cells.

Q

What enzymes join together to make bigger things?

A

Carbohydrates to simple sugars.
Glycogen synthase joins together glucose to make glycogen
Proteins are made by joining amino acids together
Lots of enzymes are used here in the synthesis to lipids from fatty acids to glycerol.
