Describe the practical Investigating osmosis?

Answer 1

1. Prepare sucrose solutions from high to low concentration.
2. Cut potato into the same sizes pieces
3. Divide cylinders into groups of three and measure mass
4. Put one group in each solution
5. Leave it for 40 mins
6. Remove and dry using paper this removes the excess water from the surface - more accurate
7. Weigh again
8. Only thing changed should be the sucrose solution concentration.

Above the x axis the water concentration the sucrose solution is higher than in the cylinders . Gain mass as water is drawn in by osmosis.
