ARTICLE VI, Section 28- Scope of Nursing Practice
A person shall be deemed to be practicing nursing within the meaning of this Act when he/she singly or in collaboration with another, initiates and performs nursing services to individuals, families and communities in any health care setting.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE 2012 NNCCS
- The 2012 NNCCS will serve as a guide for the development of the following:
❖Basic Nursing Education Program in the Philippines through the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
❖_____ as the basis for the development of course syllabi and test questions for “entry level”” nursing practice in the Philippine Nurse Licensure examination
❖Standards of Professional Nursing Practice in various settings in the Philippines

Competency-based Test Framework
is a list of guarantees for those receiving medical care. It may take the form of a law or a non-binding declaration. Typically, it guarantees patients information, fair treatment, and autonomy over medical decisions, among other rights.
PATIENT’S BILL OF RIGHTS
- Right to Appropriate Medical Care and Humane Treatment.
- Right to Informed Consent.
- Right to Privacy and Confidentiality.
- Right to Information.
- The Right to Choose Health Care Provider and Facility.
- Right to Self-Determination.
- Right to Religious Belief.
- Right to Medical Records.
- Right to Leave.
- Right to Refuse Participation In Medical Research.
- Right to Correspondence and to Receive Visitors.
- Right to Express Grievances.
- Right to be Informed of His Rights and Obligations as a Patient.
In a healthcare setting, the process of informed consent includes:
a. ability to make a decision
b. explanation of information needed to make the decision
c. understanding of the medical information
d. voluntary decision to get treatment
In case the patient is incapable of giving consent and a third party consent is required. the following persons, in the order of priority stated hereunder, may give consent:
i. spouse;
ii. son or daughter of legal age;
iii. either parent;
iv. brother or sister of legal age,or
v. guardian
An informed consent agreement should include the following information:

b. name and purpose of treatment
c. benefits, risks, and alternative procedures

otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act is a law that seeks to protect all forms of information, be it private, personal, or sensitive. It is meant to cover both natural and juridical persons involved in the processing of personal information.

The Code of Ethics for Nurses consists of two components: the PROVISIONS and the ACCOMPANYING INTERPRETIVE statements.
There are NINE PROVISIONS that contain an intrinsic relational motif:
a. nurse to patient,
b. nurse to nurse,
c. nurse to self,
d. nurse to others,
e. nurse to profession, and
f. nurse and nursing to society
