  • Beer at matches - alcohol
  • Passionate - travelled, payed - want the team to win
  • Frustration if team is losing, playing badly
  • Deindividualisation - Lose your social identity - you become the crowd, identify with them - not the same person as before, act differently

  • Sports performers are role models - so violence may be copied in society - e.g. conor mcgregor
  • Put parents off letting their children ppt - e.g. boxing, rugby
  • Can lead to violence among spectators e.g. wembley 2022
  • Sport is a reflection of society - violence in sport may be because society has violence in it
  • Violence in sport could indicate other social issues in wider society
