CBT: cognitive restructuring; thought record
keep record of:
-situation: what actually happened
-automatic thoughts: what thoughts did you have
-emotion: what emotion and how intense
-evidence: what makes you believe the automatic thought, what evidence do you have against it
-alternative thought: what is another way to think about this
-rate mood now: rate emotion intensity after completing entry
CBT Exposure (with response preventions)
Main ingredient of CBT for Anxiety
-Create exposure hierarchy using SUDS(subjective units of distress)
-review problem solving plan
-Conduct exposures and stay in each to ride the wave until anxiety passes
-assign exposure HW
-Move on to next exposure in hierarchy once SUDS indicates very low anxiety for current exposure
CBT: relapse prevention
Help develop exposure assignments on their own
create detailed plan
-review anxiety management techniques learned and used in therapy
-set up follow-up sessions
