Exam3: Lecture 22: Case-Study 2 Flashcards
(10 cards)
What issue is shown in the Xray
Fragmented coronoid process
What technique can be used in dogs with FCP
- preferred by many, including Dr. G
- Minimally invasive
- better visualization
- diagnose and treat if present
Arthroscopy / Arthrotomy
What technique can be used for dogs with FCP
- excellent diagnostic tool for bone
- very expensive
- useful in uncommon breeds / older animals
CT
What type of imagining technique is this?
CT of the elbows
What treatment options are available for FCP
Medical
- some reports claim equal to surgery
Surgery
- Arthroscopy / arthrotomy
= fragment removal and debride
= +/- ulnar osteotomy
- Subtotal coronoidectomy
What issue is shown in the Xray
- Grade III/IV on the left forelimb
- Noticeable head bob when walking
- Pain on hyperextension and hyperflexion of the left shoulder
Osteochondrosis dissecans
What treatment options are available for Osteochondritis dissecans
Surgical management
- surgical removal of the loose osteo-chondral flap via arthrotomy or arthroscope
- Debridement of exposed subchondral bed
What issue is shown in the Xray
- Stiff after sleeping
- right limb lameness that worsens after exercise
- Right stifle effusion and crepitus
- the rDVM did an arthrocentesis two days prior to presentation
- Stifle: lateral, then medial femoral condyle
- prognosis is guarded to fair
What issue is shown in the Xray
- 6.5 mo old german shepherd presents with forelimb lameness and clinical signs referable to the elbow
UAP
- Unattinuated ulnar process
What are the treatment options for UAP
best option is fragment removal
- bandage
- restricted activity
